MYMCA "Embassies of the World" Charity Walk & Gala Dinner
Esplanade Park; Shangri-La Hotel | 21st September 2017
“Embassies of the World” Charity Walk was the brainchild of a MYMCA staff, in line with the World Peace Day which took place on the same day. Leading to the Charity Walk was the “M. Y. Peace Message Writing Competition” which was opened to all schools and youths for them to pen down their expression and thoughts for peace, either in written form or visual art form.
The winning peace message was then printed in copies and handed to the various participating Embassies in Singapore, via the Charity Walk which was held in the morning. Groups of students and youths took to the road in groups and visited the Embassies to hand out or recite the peace message to the Ambassadors/High Commissioners/Embassy Representatives. In exchange, the Embassies presented their token of peace message to the youths. The peace messages were then collated and presented to the United Nation Representative at the Gala Dinner on the same night.
The Gala Dinner which was held at Shangri-La Hotel, was attended by over 40 Ambassadors/ Embassies Representatives as well as distinguished guests. The winners of the Peace Message writing competition were presented with certificates during the dinner. A silent auction was also held to raise funds for the Charity.
The highlight of the dinner was the finale performance where the Ambassadors/High Commissioners/Embassy Representatives were invited on stage to pin their country flag onto the World Map to signify their commitment to World Peace.
